The door personifies the "home"; it represents a world in which the family is the focus of human existence and development in all its various aspects: education, work, emotions. This is especially true in reference to a family that is as extensive as the Cavagna family. In years past, rendezvous and love trysts were recorded on the portals of homes, and this was even done on the door of the Cavagna house in the 1920’s. It was in this manner that Paolo and Rachele gave its start to their family and to the perpetuation of this unique generation, that of the Lumezzane people, tenacious people where the word "impossible" is not even thought of. Enrico Cavagna, driven by his ambition to get ahead, together with his family, initiated with success various entrepreneurial activities. So famous was his venture that he was nicknamed "Scagnino" (chairmaker) and he involved his entire family in it. In fact, the art of weaving straw bottoms for chairs took on the characteristics of craftwork, with Enrico and Amleto searching for straw bottom chairs to reweave and repair along the Contrada della Valle. All the others along with them carried out all of the subsequent tasks to be completed in the home workshop, which was nothing but the kitchen. That is to say the cleaning and the fixing of the chair framework, the straw weaving, the stuffing, the plucking and, finally, the delivery. But ambition was one thing: it meant succeeding in the specific art of the Lumezzane people, that is, working with metals, which brought a substantial change in the activities of all the family members. From the initial small automated machinery, to more important manufacturing for third parties. The entire family followed the steps suggested gradually by the father Paolo and Enrico: leading in the foundry with the production of a tank valve which allowed them entry into an area that, in the end, yields definite and rich satisfaction: GPL. In 1949, CPF was born: it was our the first response for the industrial world.

Enrico Cavagna

CPF, formed in 1949, became the first true industrial event, thanks to the strong determination of its creators to improve their own social and entrepreneurial positions, others followed which brought on the consolidation of the Cavagna Group. In the 60’s and 70’s, the Cavagna family became strong and prosperous, strengthening its position in the market and so, making a name for itself among the worldwide producers of faucets and accessories for GPL and fire fighting equipment. In the 80’s, production underwent a substantial change due to the introduction of new automated equipment and the construction of new modern buildings close to major commercial roadways.
